The Paper That Changed Everything
It started with nothing.
No job.
No money.
No plan.
Just a cheap room, a leaky roof, and a man named Jordan Blake staring at a cracked ceiling, wondering how everything had come undone so quickly.
He was 27, broke, and out of options. The business he had poured his heart into had collapsed. His friends were moving on, building careers, starting families, travelling. He couldn’t even afford bus fare across town.
But something stirred in him that night—not optimism, but defiance.
He pulled out a worn notebook from his backpack, tore out a page, and wrote five simple words at the top:
“What I Want From Life.”
Then he started listing.
A warm, safe home.
A job I love.
To feel proud of myself.
To travel to Japan.
To help my mum retire.
To build something that matters.
To stop feeling like a failure.
The list wasn’t neat. The words were shaky. But when he looked at it, he didn’t feel broken anymore. He felt focused.
He folded the paper four times and hid it under a loose floorboard.
“I’ll look at this in a month,” he whispered.
“And maybe in a year, I’ll laugh or cry. Either way—I’ll know I tried.”
Planting the Seed
The next day, Jordan told two of his closest friends what he had done.
“You should do it too,” he said.
“Write it down when things are bad.
Not when you’re hopeful—but when you’ve got nothing.
That way, your future self will know what mattered most when the noise was gone.”
They did.
They all agreed not to look at their lists for a month—and then to check again in a year.
Jordan went to work—literally. Any work he could find. Painting fences. Washing dishes. Fixing bikes. But he kept returning to one dream: building his own design studio. Every night, after long shifts, he watched tutorials, sketched ideas, and took notes by candlelight when the electricity was cut.
He taped another note to his wall:
“Stick at it. Your future self is watching.”
One Month Later
He opened the floorboard and read his paper.
Some things still felt impossible.
But one had changed.
“To feel proud of myself.”
For the first time in a long time—he did.
So he kept going.
He upgraded his old laptop piece by piece. He built a portfolio, offered to design logos for free, and slowly, his first clients came. Then more. Then enough to pay the bills. Then enough to quit side jobs.
He told his friends, “You know what’s weird? When I wrote that list, it felt like a fantasy. Now, it feels like a contract I’m going to keep.”
One Year Later
Jordan and his two friends met for dinner.
They all brought their folded-up lists.
They opened them like old treasure maps.
And they were shocked.
They hadn’t achieved everything.
But each of them had taken massive steps forward.
One had paid off a crushing debt.
Another had started therapy and was finally at peace with himself.
Jordan had moved into a small but beautiful flat, and his design studio was up and running.
They laughed. They cried. They toasted.
Because what started as a scrap of hope had become a blueprint for change.
The Moral
Jordan’s story is more than inspiring—it’s a tool.
When things are messy… uncertain… overwhelming…
That’s the moment to pause and write.
Write down what you want.
Be honest.
Don’t filter.
Then put it away.
A month from now, check it.
A year from now, compare it.
You’ll be amazed by how even the smallest steps, repeated with heart, turn wishes into reality.
“You don’t need perfect timing.
You don’t need perfect confidence.
You just need a pen, a paper, and the courage to begin.”
So next time life feels heavy, sit down.
Write it all out.
Then get to work.
Your future self is waiting to be proud of you.
Selling digital downloads is one of the easiest and most beginner-friendly ways to make money online—because once you create the product, it can sell again and again with no extra work.
âś… Step 1: Choose What to Sell
Start with something simple that solves a problem:
eBooks: Write a short guide on something you know—parenting tips, dog training, meal prepping, or budgeting.
Templates: Think about planners, resumes, social media posts, or spreadsheets that people can fill in.
Planners: Daily, weekly, or monthly planners are always in demand—especially if they look good and are easy to use.
âś… Step 2: Create Your Digital Product
No fancy tools needed. Use:
Google Docs or Canva (for eBooks and templates)
Canva or PowerPoint (for planners or PDFs) Make it clean, helpful, and easy to read. Don’t worry about being perfect—just be useful.
âś… Step 3: Save & Upload
Save your file as a PDF (the most universal format), and you’re good to go.
âś… Step 4: List It Online
You can start selling right away using:
Payhip.com (free, easy, beginner-friendly)
Etsy.com (great for planners and templates)
