Today, I am going to go through some pretty controversial comments on both these social networks and I am going to emphasize on marketing on these two huge networks of people. According to Social Pilot, 90% of accounts follow at least one business on Instagram. On the other hand, Facebook has over 10 million active advertisers as of 2023. Both of these platforms seem intriguing choices for advertising your business. But, which one will YOU choose? Facebook or Instagram?

Both networks are thriving in getting both advertisers and potential customers to get to know each other. They both have merits and of course the competition is so big. Numbers are huge, sometimes containing too many zeros for our eyes.
The fact of the matter is that people are more likely to respond to your ads on Instagram, as it makes it easier for them to become customers by the introduction of its buttons which make CTAs a reality. They are placed so elegantly that a person visiting Instagram for a daily, and probably irrelevant surfing on Instagram, will come across your product and if he/she likes what they see, they are just a few simple clicks away from making the purchase.

But, what about Facebook? Facebook is not lying around waiting for Instagram take over its advertisers. With the introduction of Meta, Facebook and Instagram have become two peas in a pod. These two platforms are being controlled by mega advertisers, mega companies, mega agencies and mega everything. If you are starting out a new business, you can’t compete to get seen and noticed easily with the limited budget (no offense) you have for advertising. So, what is the solution?

There are other social networks where the competition is not that fierce and there is a chance you will get seen. You might even not have to pay a dime for your advertising and a simple post may go a long way to get you seen. When you are starting out a business, you don’t get to spend much on advertising, yet, you should invest in advertising (or should I say marketing). Marketing is not an expense; it’s investment. You can’t reap what you haven’t sown and that’s the truth of the matter. You need to get seen, however, you don’t have to pay for it. Look for places on the internet that offer free advertising.
